My exchange year in Ecuador turned into a love affair with the Andes. Roped up and on crampons, I summited several of the country's glaciated volcanoes — concluding by standing at the point on earth closest to the sun.

Whenever there's an ocean nearby, I'm in it. Diving is my counterweight to the mountains — slow, weightless and quiet, with a whole ecosystem unfolding a few metres below the surface.
